UV won more votes than the Technical University of Berlin in polls made on board of the ACA conference.
ACA is the major conferences in the world in computer algebra, which is organized every year since 1995.

12/01/2009 At 12:00 an incident has occurred in the corridor of the first floor of building C to UV.Student Ledjana Zekaj has shot with a knife her friend Claudio Kamberaj.

Declaration of the Rectorate about the event of the day:

Rector and all teaching staff of the University of Vlora after the incident is reported today in the Faculty of Technical Sciences, where the student Lediana Zekaj has shot another student Claudio Kamberaj with a knife, expressed deep regret with this ugly act of violence. Such actions are unacceptable for our University students and will not be tolerated. University will take punitive measures against all those who have violated the rules and statutes of the University of Vlora.

    Zoti Nikolla, ju keni te drejte te jeni kunder  meje si Rektori i Universitetit te Vlores. Une ju pushova nga puna! Une nuk di se sa i afte jeni ju si avokat, por ju duhet t'a kuptoni se ju nuk ishit i afte si pedagog, ju thjesht nuk i permbushnit standartet e universitetit te Vlores. Ju nuk perkisnit ketu! Ne po perpiqemi te pastrojme universitetin e Vlores nga njerez  qe na vijne njehere ne 6 muaj, qe jane pa arsimin dhe kulturen perkatese. Me besoni, nuk kisha asgje personale kunder jush. Ishte thjesht nje vendim ne te miren e studenteve tane.  Universiteti i Vlores, ka marre ne vendin tuaj pedagoge shume me te afte dhe me te zot se ju, djem e vajza te reja te diplomuar ne Angli, Itali e gjetk. Nuk eshte mire qe keto inate personale t'i perdorni publikisht kunder universitetit tone dhe meje personalisht.

28/10/2008 Declaration of the Rector about the article in the newspaper "Shekulli" by journalist Anila Peci.

    Eshte per te ardhur keq qe ju zonja Peci ankoheni per ata pedagoge te cilet kane mbaruar ne Vlore, kur ju vete jeni diplomuar nga ky universitet. Personat te cilet nuk jane marre ne pune ose kane pasur ndonje problem me ligjin, ndonje histori me afera korruptive, ose e kane komunikimin zero dhe jane zene me anetaret e komisionit gjate intervistes. Ka edhe nga ata te cilet universitetin e quajne si nje kopsht zbavites ku mund te futen e te dalin sa here te duan.

    Persa i perket departamentit te informatikes dhe matematikes ju duhet t'ju vije turp qe permendni atje pedagoget tane te rinj. Ata jane djemte dhe vajzat tona me te mira, te cilet jane marre si seminariste dhe jo si lektore. Ata po vazhdojne studimet ne diplomen e nivelit te dyte ne matematike ose informatike. C'kane me shume ata pedagoge te cilet kane qene deri dje (si te jashtem) dhe kane marre para me thase nga studentet? Zonja Peci, na gjej ti njerez me mastera tek informatika dhe matematika dhe ne i marrim qe sot.

    Ju personalisht, zonja Peci po beheni zeri i personave te korruptuar. Eshte nje grup ish-pedagogesh ne Vlore te cilet jane folur hapur per korrupsion, por ne do t'a pastrojme Universitetin e Vlores nga korrupsioni. Me mire ata qe kane mbaruar vjet se sa nje i korruptuar.

    Njoftohet Rektori i UV-se se punonjesit e UV-se : B. Shkurtaj, E. Zotaj, Ferdinand Sulaj, Arjana Kola, Alberta Breshani jane ne padi penale me akuza te ndryshme si shperdorim detyre, dem ekonomik shkaktuar universitetit, parregullsi ne tenderin e laboratorit te fizikes te zhvilluar ne 2006-2007.
